Will miss out of town family this Christmas

By Published On: December 23, 2020

I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas. Prayers for a healthy, happy holiday season and in the New Year. We have all been in the middle of dealing with this long lasting virus.
This year a lot of families, ours included, won’t be celebrating with our out of town family. It is the first time since we had children that we will be spending Christmas alone. Our daughter Gale and her husband Tommy Terry, Crystal Springs, MS had planned to spend Christmas Eve with us, but he was exposed a few days ago and that will keep them home. Son Joe and Amy from Mobile, AL are wanting to come for New Years but for now we are just taking that day at a time.

I have heard of a few families that held their annual Christmas gathering, but for the most part think it has only been a few. I can understand that with our virus cases still on the rise. In just 5 days, from December 15 cases at 921 and as of December 20 cases numbered 991. That is 70 cases in 5 days!

If you are looking for somewhere to attend a Christmas Eve service, I understand Calhoun City First Baptist Church will be celebrating the birth of Jesus on the night of December 24 at 5-5:45 PM for Carols & Candlelight. There will be masks available and expected to be worn, seating is distanced and sanitizer will be also be available.

Due to the increased positive cases and quarantines following Thanksgiving, the all district schools will begin after the Christmas holidays on January 4 with district wide virtual instructions. Students are instructed to NOT attend in-person classes. They will be required to participate virtually for the week of January 4-8.

Prayers for all who are sick with the virus, cancer, flu, or any other medical problems. This week’s list are that I have heard of are Lynn Casey still in the hospital in New Albany where he was transferred, Wonda Roach, recovering at home, Penny Lucius, Harold Tallent, his brother James Tallent, Ann Whitt, Penny Nelson, Mike and Diane are getting better each day, Waylon Logan, Lisa Norwood, Jimmy Coker, Shirley Herrod, Alan Murphree, Henry Lee Taylor, and Billy Doyle Alexander. If you will notify me of others that would like to be put on the prayer list, please notify me.

Sympathy and prayers for the family of Vernice Tutor. She will be missed by all that knew her. Pray for their comfort during this difficult time.
