Did not receive as much rain as predicted in August.

Received 3.9” at my residence in August. David Green recorded 3.8” at Loyd and 5.1” at Rocky Mount. John Leachman had 3.8” at Lantrip.
August record shows none in August of 2000 with 10.5 in ‘01.

Thanks to Hazel Whitt of Houston for a good supply of pears. Willa Kay and I were at her residence last week east of Houston.
Her son, Danny, came in prior to our leaving. Many know him for his respiratory therapy employment days at Baptist Hospital in Calhoun City.
Numerous people have visited the Whitts and gathered pears from a tree overly supplied with fruit.
We went next door to see my sister-in-law Ruth Alexander. She is doing well and had to give us, Billy and Jackie Alexander also, what she calls a Labor Day gift–two bars each of “goat soap.” (Those Houston residents are each faithful readers of the CCJ.)

Later in the afternoon we stopped with Linda Lancaster and Faye.
We still miss Bro. John Windell Lancaster. He died September 2019. He was 81.
Talked with Linda Malone Sunday. She is a CCJ subscriber from Coldwater and a reader of these items.

She is the widow of Larry Malone, who died in 2016. Cousin Ann Malone of Bruce is her sister-in-law. Thanks to her family for my Sunday meal.
Good to be back at Lantrip for Sunday School and worship at the old time of 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.
Hope to hold these times for immediate future.
Sympathy to all bereaved including the family of Nancy Lambert Nix.
