Saddened by loss of good friends

This last week has been a sad week for me. Received word that a cousin, Tammi Dunn, passed away in Memphis and a very dear friend that lived in Gilbert, AZ passed away. They both were loved so much. My friend, Linda Mahn is one who, with her husband, went to Greece with me one year. We had visited with them in their home, they had visited us here in Derma. A few summers, AG and I would pick up his brother Franklin and wife Wilma in Jonesboro and drive to meet Linda and her husband Phil for a vacation. Please remember the Mahn and Dunn families in your prayers. Wednesday, June 2, would have been AG’s and my 62nd wedding anniversary.

Next week, Tuesday, June 8, is the local elections. Please remember to get out and vote. I haven’t gotten out and gone to door this year due to our family’s loss last month. So please forgive me for that.
The benefit for Annelle Scott, Vardaman, will be Saturday, June 12 at 4 PM at Vardaman Fire Department. There will be music/singing at 4 PM, BBQ plates at 4 PM, and live auction at 6 PM. the bbq plates are $10 each with proceeds to help the Scott family and the medical expenses in Annelle’s battle against cancer. The Calhoun City Farmer’s Market will be held every Saturday of June – October from 8 AM to 12 PM. on the Calhoun City Square.

I had hoped there would be some interest in our area getting a Pickleball group together. It is good exercise especially for ones that feel they can no longer play tennis. All ages are welcome to call and let me know if you are interested. I am going to be going over to Starkville to play on some weekends. I say “play”, it is more to learn how to play. I also heard there is a group from Maben that plays, which would be even closer. Anyway, if you do think about it, and think you would like to get involved, just call 628-4018 and leave your name and number for me to call you back after work.

Please remember the ones you know are sick or other problems in your prayers. Richard Haire has returned home to recover from surgery, Ann Whitt, Shirley Herrod, Jimmy Coker, Robert Marascalco, Henry Lee Taylor is back home from his hospital stay, Alan Murphree, Calvin Barnett, Annelle Scott, and Shirley Curtis.
Sympathy to the family of Jim Martin. He will be missed by his many friends and his family. Prayers for comfort for them all during this difficult time of grief.
