Poynor, Winter among the pageant winners
It has been an uneventful day for me this past week. I did manage to get my first Covid-19 vaccine though. Got it in Oxford on Friday afternoon at the National Guard/Civic Center facilities. Very well organized and moved along quickly for so many vehicles there. I had a little soreness in my arm, but that is all.
Last week in my article I mistakenly noted that Dr Andy Schoggin was Wanda Keifer’s oldest son. I apologize for the error. Jamie Schoggin is the oldest son and he lives in Bonham, Texas.
Congratulations to John M. Harmon, Vardaman, on his new position of Vice President and Commercial Banker. He will serve at the new Calhoun County Loan Production Office branch of the Guaranty Bank & Trust Company.
Another congratulations goes out to Ruby Poynor. Ruby, daughter of Jeff and Amy Poynor, was selected as Teen Miss Northeast Mississippi 2021. Besides being overall winner she also was selected as Best Model. The event was held in New Albany.
Carlee Winter was another winner in the New Albany pageant. Congratulations on her winning Peoples Choice, best eyes, and 2nd alternate. Proud of our Calhoun County young women. I saw pictures of them both and they are both beautiful.
Finally have such good news to report. Love to offer congratulations to our young people. Now offer it to the Calhoun City Wildcats and the Lady Wildcats. Both basketball teams have gained their ticket to the state championship semi-finals at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson. They played on Tuesday.
Will ask you add to your prayer list Jimmy Coker, Alan Murphree, Ann Whitt who is to have scans in a few days, Henry Lee Taylor, AG Gibson, Paul Griffin and James Tedder.
Now to offer my sympathy to the families of Mark Lucius, Billy Doyle Alexander, and Danny Owen. It is always so hard for us to say our final goodbyes to our friends or loved ones. Rather than saying goodbyes, it is see you later. Please remember their families in your prayers for comfort during this difficult time.
