Man arrested after receiving drugs in mail
A Banner man has been arrested after receiving packages in the mail with drugs in them including a wax type of marijuana.
Anthony Clark, 40, who also has a residence in Water Valley, was arrested at his residence in Banner yesterday around 11 a.m.
Sheriff Greg Pollan said Clark was arrested after he took possession of three packages that had been “flagged” by the U.S. postal inspector as being suspicious.
Pollan said Clark the packages had 48 grams of marijuana and more than 25 grams of THC wax, the highest form of marijuana.
“That’s the first time I have seen that in Calhoun County,” Sheriff Pollan said.
He went on to say that possession of any amount of “wax” is a felony because its potency is comparable to that of heroin.
Pollan said the drugs were shipped from out of state.
Clark was charged with felony possession of marijuana wax with intent, felony possession of marijuana with intent, and three counts of possession of paraphernalia.
The case was worked on by MBN, the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office and the United States Postal Service.
