Loyd Baptist Church vandalized

Authorities are investigating a recent crime at Loyd Baptist Church where the historic building was severely vandalized.
Sheba Bailey discovered the destruction and reported it to the Calhoun Sheriff’s Office.
The vandals ripped the awning down on a side entrance to the church and then made their way inside where they broke out windows, ripped down stained glass light fixtures, pulled down ceiling tiles, overturned church pews, ripped paneling off of walls, and much more.
“It’s just hard to imagine anyone would do something like that to a church,” Bailey said.
The church does not hold regular services but had been available for local families wanting to use it on special occasions.
