Academy students celebrate Dr. Seuss

This year at Calhoun Academy, the elementary students participated in the annual Dr. Seuss Week. Calhoun Academy celebrates this week because the elementary students enjoy his many best sellers. Dr. Seuss published over 60 books as well as his most famous works: Green Eggs and Ham and Cat in the Hat.

850 households in the Calhoun City area had power outages after early morning storms Thursday, according to Natchez Trace EPA Manager Darryl Love.

Vardaman Storm Damage

Vardman DamageAn Alexander storage building across from Penick Produce in Vardaman on Hwy 8 was among several buildings damaged in early morning storms. Most of the damage was in south Calhoun. Numerous trees were down and power was out in Vardaman, Slate Springs and some areas of Calhoun City.
