Vardaman Extends Lease For Charity

Vardaman board of aldermen agreed to a lease extension for Catholic Charities which would allow them to get grant monies. The original lease with the group for buildings on Main Street, was for 15 years. The new lease agreement is for 75 years.

The Board set fall Clean Up Day for Saturday, Aug. 4 when dumpsters will be set up in town for citizens to bring old furniture, appliances and other items.
The board voted to take the lone bid for surplus property under advisement.
Hugh Shaffer of West Point bid $381 for the fire truck, $211 for one of the police cars and $223 for the other.
They also agreed to adopt the 08-09 budget and amend 07-08 to actual expenses and training for water and street supt. Eddie Alford Sept. 15-19 for water certification.
