“My name is Scotty Green Collins and I am running for Superintendent of Education.  I am the son of Scott and Reeda Collins and the grandson of Winfred and Moss Green and Elmer and Nanny Collins.  I have deep roots in Calhoun County.

“I am the father of two wonderful children - Will and Logan Collins. As a father of children in the public schools, I know how important it is to have safe, warm and comfortable schools with clean and well organized facilities and teachers who care enough to get in the classroom everyday and work with our children.  I pledge to work as hard for your children as I do my own.

“Graduating as a Bruce Trojan in 1983, I went on to serve my country for six years in the air force.  After leaving the service I worked a variety of jobs while completing my degree at Ole Miss. I've worked in factories and in the log woods. I've baled hay and raised soybeans and tromped cotton. I have the experience of a working man and I can relate to people from all walks of life.

“I have been principal of South Pontotoc Middle School for the past nine years. I supervise teachers, counselors, nurses, and support staff.  I am responsible for the safety, discipline, and teaching of hundreds of students. Pontotoc County Schools are some of the best in the state of Mississippi and I have played my part. I am ready to bring that experience and those proven best practices home to Calhoun County. As your superintendent I will work tirelessly to bring Calhoun County Schools to the highest possible levels.

“Please consider me as I strive to once again serve my country and my county as the superintendent of the Calhoun County School District.”
