A Calhoun County ambulance was involved in a fatal accident Monday morning in Chickasaw County.
A 16-year-old Houston resident was killed in the   accident that occurred at the intersection of Hwy. 15 and CR 405 near Houston around 11:30 a.m.
The teen was driving a van. Another passenger in the van was airlifted to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.
Ambulance driver Patema Davis and medic Don Boring suffered minor injuries, Calhoun Health Services Administrator James Franklin said. He said they got out to work on the victims in the other vehicle and called for the helicopter.
Airbags deployed in the ambulance leaving Davis and Boring sore Tuesday, Franklin said. The ambulance was on its way back to Calhoun after delivering a patient to Tupelo.
Franklin said the ambulance was likely totalled, leaving CHS with two. He said NMMC would likely loan them one if another was needed.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
