Mighty Gospel Warriors to perform on Thacker Mountain Radio in Oxford Thursday night

The Mighty Gospel Warriors of Bruce will be among the featured entertainment during Thacker Mountain Radio's season finale Thursday night at the Lyric Theatre in Oxford.

The show, which begins at 6 p.m. and is broadcast over Mississippi Public Radio, will also feature Memphis songwriter Amy LaVere (Stranger Me) with Tyler Keith and Silas Reed N' Da Books, plus a special salute to the Oxford American's Mississippi Music issue.

The Mighty Gospel Warriors are a dynamic traditional quartet founded in 1987 by brothers Homer and Sammy Judon from Bruce, Mississippi.

The group also includes David Welch, C.W. Vance, and the brothers' father, veteran gospel singer Hulet Judon.

The Mighty Gospel Warriors have released five CDs including "Keep Looking Up," and a video version of their most recent recording, "What a Reunion!"

The group has toured extensively, serving up their "good old, foot-stomping, hand-clapping, traditional gospel music."

Following the radio broadcast, The Mighty Gospel Warriors will play a special after party set at The Lyric at 7:30 p.m.

Admission to Thacker Mountain Radio is free.
