“I’m all about saving time,” said Lynne Harris, and she did a lot of research before buying an air fryer in January.
“I love it. Everybody needs one,” she said.
And she has pretty much mastered it.
She now has one in the house and one in their camper, and hardly ever uses her oven anymore.
“Center cut pork chops were the best I have ever cooked,” she said, but “the chicken wings are what really got me going,” she said.

Although the fryers come with a cookbook, she says you will almost always tweak a recipe to suit yourself.
Among the things she has cooked in her fryer are stuffed jalapenos, whole fish, bacon wrapped chicken and pork, bacon wrapped asparagus, bacon wrapped tomato slices, roasted cauliflower, broiled shrimp, frozen biscuits and mini pizzas.
“You can marinade chicken strips or cook them fresh out of the packet,” she said.

“It is also great for cooking hot dogs, sausages and bologna.”
“I also use it to warm up leftovers or toast buns, and hamburgers are so good and juicy”
Her tips for cooking in the air fryer are to keep plenty of food spray on hand.
She said she uses spray butter often before seasoning her meats and vegetables.

“Always spray the basket with non-stick cooking spray,” she said.
“It is so important to let the meat rest for five minutes after removing. Meats are juicy and not dry, but don’t leave them in the fryer to keep warm or it will continue to cook. And do not put dishes or pans in the air fryer,” she said.
“Don’t be afraid of it,” she said, “It’s the best thing since the clothes dryer and it’s easy cleanup. There is no excuse for not having one,” she said. “It is ideal for college students, and would make a good wedding gift,” she said.
Lynne’s 5 qt. has a digital timer with automatic shutoff, preset programs including presets for different types of meat.

Steaks
(Cooked medium)
1” thick rib-eyes (I try to always sear meat on both sides first.) Spray basket with cooking spray. Place meat in basket. Put seasonings of choice on meat. (I use steak seasoning and worcestershire.) Cook at 400° for 16 minutes (eight minutes on each side.) Take out of fryer and put on plate. Put Tbsp. of butter on top of steak, letting it rest five minutes before serving.

Pork Chops
1” thick center cut pork chops (I like to sear pork chops on both sides first) Spray basket with cooking spray. Put seasoning on meat. (I use chop seasoning and worcestershire.) Cook at 360° for 18 minutes, nine minutes on each side. Remove from fryer immediately. Let meat rest five minutes before serving.

Biscuits
Spray basket. Place frozen biscuits in basket. Cook at 400° for 10 minutes. It is not necessary to turn them over. Let them stand a couple of minutes before serving. It is o.k. to leave them in basket to keep them warm.

Cinnamon Rolls
Cook the same way as biscuits. Remove golden brown cinnamon rolls and top with icing.

Chicken Wings
(Hot, Seasoned, Regular)
Spray basket and place chicken in it. Put desired seasoning on chicken. Cook at 400° for 24 minutes, 12 minutes on each side. Remove from fryer immediately. Let rest five minutes before serving. Chicken Strips may be cooked the same way.

Whole Roasted Chicken
Spray basket and lightly spray chicken with cooking spray. Sprinkle seasoning on chicken and inside cavity. Cook at 400° for 25-30 minutes, 12-15 minutes on each side. Remove from fryer immediately and let rest five minutes before serving.

French Fries
Spray basket and season fries. Cook at 400° for 15 minutes, tossing halfway through.

Corn on Cob
Spray basket. Lightly spray corn with cooking spray. Put single row of corn in basket. Cook at 400° for 14 minutes. After seven minutes, roll halfway over. Corn might be a little charred. Remove from basket. Put on platter and pour the following seasoning on top: Microwave 1 stick oleo and 1 Tbsp. minced garlic 40 seconds. Put on top of corn on platter, then add a sprinkle of salt, pepper and cilantro.

Stuffed Jalapenos

Spray basket. Cut jalapeños in half and remove seeds. Rinse and pat dry. Put a 1/2” slice of cream cheese in one side. Put jalapeño back together. Wrap with thin slice of bacon. Place in basket in single layer. Cook at 400° for 10 minutes on each side or until bacon is cooked.

Hamburgers
Spray basket. Place seasoned hamburger patties (1/2” to 3/4”) in single layer in basket. Cook at 360° for eight minutes on each side. Remove from fryer and let rest five minutes before serving.
