Jimmy Lee

Jimmy Lee, 75, of Heidelberg, died peacefully at his home Friday, June 24. James Harold Lee was born July 31, 1941 in Vardaman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Baine and Helen Lee, and a brother, David Baine Lee, Jr.Growing up he attended Calhoun City Schools and Vardaman High School. In the succeeding years his family always lived next door or in the same house with the Abner Lee family and was involved in farming in Big Creek, Ellzey/Vardaman and Calhoun City. Mississippi State FFA Convention

FFA Arriving on CampusVardaman FFA members and their sponsor Amanda Taylor attended the Mississippi State FFA Convention in June at Mississippi State University. Members participated in leadership workshops and competed in various contest. Two teams placed first in the state moving on to the National FFA Convention held in Indianapolis, Indiana in October. One member received the high honor of State FFA degree and made it to the final round of  the Mississippi FFA State Officer candidacy.

Calhoun among counties to receive federal PILT funds

U.S. Senator Thad Cochran (R-Miss.), chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, recently announced Calhoun will be among counties in Mississippi sharing $1.98 million in 2016 Payment in Lieu of Taxes (PILT) funding.

PEPA settling into new office on South Newberger
