Sean Cannon New Defensive Coordinator At ICC

Itawamba Community College's new head football coach, Jon Williams, has dipped into Terry Bowden's coaching staff at the University of North Alabama for his new defensive coordinator.  Calhoun City native Sean Cannon, who has 13 years of collegiate coaching experience, heads to ICC after four years of coaching the linebackers and serving as strength and conditioning coach at UNA.

Syble Gray Sturdivant Gilder

Funeral services were Saturday, January 30, 2010 11:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Glendale for Syble Gray Sturdivant Gilder, 76, of Littleton, Co., who died January 20 at Littleton Adventist Hospital. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Clestine Jones

Clestine H. Jones, 71, of Bruce died January 12, 2010 at Pontotoc Hospital. Funeral service was Saturday at 1 p.m. at Mays Chapel with Rev. Lee Moore officiating. Burial was in Cane Creek in Vardaman.?Belle Memorial Funeral Home of Bruce was in charge of arrangements.

Kathlene Vanlandingham

Kathleen Vanlandingham, 86, of Bruce, died Monday, January 25, 2010 at Calhoun Health Services nursing home in Calhoun City. She was born March 17, 1923 in Memphis, the daughter of Ed and Minnie Haire Vanlandingham. She had worked in retail sales, she was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church in Bruce.

Willie Freelon

Willie Freelon departed this life on January 25, 2010 in his home in Pittsboro. He was born June 19, 1928 in Yalobusha County, the son of Charlie Freelon and Emma Jenkins. He was a member of Bryant Chapel M.B. Church in Big Creek, where he remained faithful until his health failed him.
