Bruce Trojans Win Sweet Potato Tournament

Wildcats to top the Bruce Trojans by two points. Round two wasn’t
nearly as close as the Trojans defeated the Wildcats 76-67 last Tuesday
night en route to winning the Sweet Potato Tournament in Vardaman.

A.C. Arrives With Much Fanfare

Calhoun City, Derma, Olive Branch, and Caruthersville, Missouri,
huddled in the waiting room of Baptist Hospital in Oxford last Friday
anxiously awaiting word on our first grandchild.

Albert Mays

Albert “Bo Rabbit” Mays, 72, died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2008, in Calhoun City. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Belle Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce.

Mary Wilson

Mary Christine Newman Wilson, 94, of Banner, died Monday, Dec. 29, 2008 at Calhoun Health Services Nursing Home. She was born October 21, 1914 in Pine Valley, the daughter of Willie S. and Laura P. Morgan Newman. She was retired from Big Yank in Water Valley, and was a member of Driver’s Flat Baptist Church.
