Ray Brooks Defeats Vardaman 22-20

It took overtime, but defending Class 1A state champion Ray Brooks
ended the Vardaman Rams' season last Friday with a 22-20 win in the

Delaine McGregor

Charles Delaine McGregor, 72, of Toccopola, died Monday, November 24, 2008 at NMMC in Pontotoc. He was a member of Turnpike Baptist Church and was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a farmer and a truck driver for a carpenter company for 21 years. He enjoyed hunting and working with his mules. He was dedicated to his family.

Ruth Rounsaville

Ruth Gulledge Rounsaville, 89, died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008 at Grenada Lake Medical Center. She was born April 11, 1919 in Calhoun County, the daughter of Eddie and Ludie Aven Gulledge. She was a retired employee of Kellwood Company. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, Working Women Homemakers Club, and the Sunshine Club.

Ralph Goodson

Oliver Ralph “Smiley” Goodson, 83, of Derma, died Monday, November 24, 2008 at Calhoun Health Services Nursing Home. He was born September 12, 1925, the son of Robert Raymond and Lillie Parker Goodson. He was a retired farmer, member of New Gauley Freewill Baptist Church, and was a WWII Army Veteran.

Kate Reid

Kate Murphree Reid, 93, of Senatobia, and formerly of Bruce, died Thursday, November 20, 2008 at BMH-NM in Oxford. She was born August 31, 1915 in Calhoun County, the daughter of Levi and Josie Murphree. She was a homemaker and member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.

Robert Wells Sr.

Robert Donnas Wells Sr., 73, of Vardaman, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008 at MS State Veterans Home in Oxford. He was born June 28, 1935 in Vardaman. He was a truck driver and businessman, and a member of Houston First Baptist Church. He loved Ole Miss football, and was a member of Gideons International. He served in the U.S. Army in occupied Korea and was a member of Sons of Confederate Veterans.

Credit Union Proposed For County Employees

company looking to establish a credit union for county employees.
